Dr. McConnell graduated from University of Utah School of Medicine in 1992 with her M.D.. She completed her colon and rectal fellowship with special emphasis in immunological oncology in 2000 at the Mayo Clinic - Rochester (MN). In 2004, she received her Board Certification in Colon and Rectal Surgery. She has been practicing in the Phoenix, AZ area since 2000 and has been named as one of the "Top Docs" in 2007, 2008 and 2009. |

A graduate of the Government Medical College Amritsar in Punjab, India, Dr. Singh completed an orthopedic surgery residency at Amritsar and a general surgery residency at Easton Hospital in Pennsylvania. He then completed a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery in New York at the University of Buffalo. Dr. Singh possesses advanced laparoscopic training and handles all types of colon and rectal procedures including colonoscopy, minimally invasive and open colon and rectal surgeries, anorectal procedures, endoscopies, endorectal ultrasound and pelvic manometry. |

A native of India, Dr. Singh speaks English, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu. He is active in a number of professional organizations and is a proud member of the Arizona Sikh Medical Association. Lokesh Joshi, PhD, Research PartnerProfessor Joshi is Stokes Professor of Glycosciences and Director of Alimentary Glycoscience Research Cluster at National University of Ireland Galway, and Founder of Aquila Bioscience LLC in Scottsdale AZ, investigating glycosciences and its applications in clinical and industrial fields including infectious and chronic diseases and pharmaceutical drug manufacturing. He has authored over 60 articles and is reviewer for several international journals and scientific agencies. His research has been funded by US and European agencies. Prof. Joshi has a PhD in Biological Sciences and Biochemistry from Bath University, UK, where he worked on the strategies adopted by pathogenic fungi to colonize the host. He completed Post-Doctoral and Research Associate experience in molecular fungal pathology and glycobiology at Cornell University, New York. He was appointed Research Assistant Professor in the School of Life Sciences at Arizona State University in 2000. He joined the Department of Bioengineering and the Biodesign Institute as an Associate Professor in 2003 where he led a team of researchers working on the glycosylation pathway discovery and engineering and peptide therapeutics to produce biomolecules of therapeutic value. Prof. Joshi was the Co-Founder of Arizona Engineered Therapeutics (AzERx) and Director of the Center for Glycosciences and Technology in the Biodesign Institute at Arizona State University. |

Denise Arias, Business Manager
Denise has worked in the medical field in Arizona for 9 years. She obtained a certificate in the Medical Assistant (MA) Training program in 2000 and worked in a Cardiology Office as Medical Assistant for three years. Denise joined Dr. McConnell’s staff as a front desk receptionist and medical assistant. She currently supervises the staff of two busy offices as well as several contract employees.
Jessica Cerda, Medical Assistant
Jessica earned her Medical Assistant (MA) certification in Arizona and has worked in a General Surgery Office and a Pediatrics office before joining Dr. McConnell’s practice in 2006. She currently works as Dr. McConnell’s medical assistant and referral coordinator.
J D Ray, Surgery Scheduler
J D has worked in the medical field for over 15 years in Arizona. Before joining Dr. McConnell’s office in 2005, she worked in an OB/GYN office performing all office duties, including scheduling. In her current position, she devotes all her time to surgery scheduling.
Carolina Hernandez, Front Office Assistant
Carolina joined Dr. McConnell’s staff in July of 2009 and has experience in an optometry office. She devotes all her time in scheduling colonoscopies and assisting the office as needed.
Laurie Valdez
Laurie has worked in the medical field for 18 years. She obtained a certificate in medical assistant (MA) training program in July 27, 1993 and worked in an Obstetrics and Gynecology office for 17 years performing all duties from back to front office. Laurie joined Dr. McConnell’s staff as a front office desk receptionist and medical assistant.
